IS YOUR HOME AT RISK?
$10-15 Billion Dollars Estimated Cost of Severe Storms in the United States in 2013 and 2014
Your home may be at high risk for structural damage due to water infiltration and your family could be exposed to serious health risks caused by mold and mildew! Destructive water penetrates your attic through traditional vents and causes serious damage over time. And the problem may be getting worse according to the Rocky Mountain Climate Organization.
“Extreme storms around the globe, but particularly in the Midwest, will be increasing.”
-- Stephen Saunders, president of the Rocky Mountain Climate Organization
The report also found that the yearly frequency of extreme storms – defined as those that dropped at least 3 inches of rain in one day – has gone up by 103% in the Midwest in the past 50 years. Wind driven rain from these storms causes significant water damage from the top down in a home. Over time, water entering an attic will cause mold, mildew, and eventually structural integrity loss.
“Wildfire Statistics are Staggering...6.85 million acres on average burn per year from wildfires in the past 10 years.”
Year after year, wildfires leave a trail of death and destruction across America. During a wildfire your home is at greatest risk due to ember attacks, not direct flames from the wildfire itself. Hot embers penetrate a home’s gable vents and start a fire in the attic; when this occurs the structure burns from the inside out.
Wildfire risk is at its peak in the Wildland-Urban Interface, or the intersection of home and high-risk fire areas. ~40% of all single family homes are located within this area! Your home is at significant risk if you are one of the 1.2 million residential properties in the High/Very High risk areas.
